Joint working group for standardisation in 3D printing

Press releases 01/28/2022

Fogra initiates cross-industry standardisation and the establishment of a new joint working group (JWG)

Based on the findings of a recently completed research project, Fogra initiates cross-industry standardisation and the establishment of a new joint working group (JWG) with the designation ISO/TC 261/JWG 12 “Joint ISO/TC 261 - ISO/TC 130 WG: Colour and translucency measurements” under the lead of the most important international committee for standardization in additive manufacturing (ISO/TC 261).

Joining forces together with ISO/TC 130 (graphic technology), a new standard on “Colour and translucency measurements for 3D printed matter” shall be developed. The Chair and Committee manager of ISO/TC 261, Prof. Dr Christian Seidel (Head of Additive Manufacturing at Fraunhofer IGCV), therefore reached out to ISO/TC 130 and
proposed to cooperate a joint standard, also involving ASTM F42 (Committee F42 on
Additive Manufacturing Technologies) and the CIE (International Commission on Illumination).

Fogra expert Dr Andreas Kraushaar is proposed as convenor and Prof. Dr Philipp Urban
from Fraunhofer IGD will be the editor. The first meeting of ISO/TC 261/JWG 12 is
scheduled to take place during the hybrid ISO/ASTM meeting week on 30 March, 2022
(not finalized) in Denver, Colorado.
