Every single person at Fogra stands for research, testing and certification.

Heatset services of Fogra

Fogra researched and developed various certifications and tests to make heatset print production more efficient and resource-friendly. The range of services is extensive, from paper tests, such as residual strength or blistering, to ink mileage and washing and cleaning agent tests. Fogra was also involved in a recently completed research project on switching from gas to UV LED drying.

Offset ink mileage

How many prints can be made with a given amount of ink? This will affect the expected material consumption and cost.

Residual strength of heatset papers

Paper loses its strength in heatset production. You can have the paper tested for suitability in advance or in the event of a complaint.

Heatset inks according to  ISO 2846 -1

Prove to printers and print buyers that your materials comply with ISO 2846-1. These certified inks give printers confidence to meet the PSO or ISO 12647-2 targets.

Research projects for heatset printing

Here you will find the results and findings of recent heatset research projects. A recently completed project looked at ways to make heatset offset production more cost-effective and sustainable by making it independent of natural gas.

32.173 - Integration of high-speed inkjet into conventional offset production environments When evaluating the colour accuracy in relation to the supplied proof print, the average ΔE00 colour difference for all patches of the media wedge and the colour gamut volume showed the best correlations. Relationships calculated by means of regression analysis allowed acceptance thresholds to be set for each product category. For colour differences these are generally relatively high whilst for the colour gamut volumes they are low. long version 09.04.2020 pdf 15 MB
