He is also active in national and international standardisation. Since 2018, he has been President of the German Society for Colour Science (DfwG).

Jürgen Gemeinhardt studied physics in Würzburg and Glasgow. Immediately after completing his studies, he began his career as a research assistant at Fogra. He has been head of the Printing Technology Department there since 2004.
