Viewing conditions

The critical sampling of colours is of high importance for the daily production in the graphic industry. Misjudgements due to incorrect lighting almost immediately lead to complaints and thus to increased costs in the production process. Assess your colour correctly and have your colour matching booth certified according to ISO 3664:2025!

Your benefit

The ISO standard 3664 defines reliable criteria with regard to quality assurance for colour-accurate sampling. With the certification you prove that your cabinets and luminaires can be used for colour-accurate sampling. The certification comes with a certificate and a FograCert logo. Certification details are listed in our FograCert database.

According to ISO 3664:2025, viewing cabinet with P3/P4 viewing conditions should also enable P1/P2. However, P3/P4 conformity can also be tested separately; in this case, an expert report is issued, but no Fogra certificate is granted.

What you need to do

You would like to have your cabinet certified? Simply make an appointment with us for a half-day audit at your premises.

    Our procedure

    You will be supported in the preparation before the half-day audit. Simply contact us if you have any questions!

    Your viewing cabinets and luminaires will be tested and certified according to the following criteria in accordance with ISO 3664:2025:

    • Colour rendering (general and special colour rendering index)

    • Colour rendering (Colour Fidelity Index Rf)

    • Colour rendering (CIE visible range metamerism index MIvis)

    • Correct UV energy (CIE UV range metamerism index MIUV)

    • Colour accuracy (D50)

    • Homogeneity

    • Ambient conditions

    • Maintenance

    The audits are carried out by a Fogra employee. In case of a successful certification we issue a certificate and list your cabinets & luminaires in our FograCert database.

    State-of-the-art technology:

    We also offer ISO 3668:2017 (and ASTM D1729) certification of a standard light booth using D65, A or FL11 as illumination. This allows lighting manufacturers to demonstrate their high quality in other industries that do not use D50 as a standard light source.
