Proof substrate

With this certification, manufacturers prove that their proof substrate (proof paper) conforms to ISO 12647-7 and is suitable for test print production with regard to desired reference printing conditions.

Certified substrates

Your benefit

Upon successful certification, manufacturers receive a FograCert logo in addition to the technical test report, which shows the conformity of the proof paper to ISO 12647-7. Details of the certified proof substrates (white point, gloss and OBA class) are listed in the FograCert database for specific searches. Users can thus find suitable products for all relevant printing conditions quickly and easily.

  • Feedback of results within a short time: approx. 2 weeks

  • Validity of the certification: 2 years

What you need to do

You would like to have your substrates certified or renew an existing certification?

We need from you

  • The filled out ordersheet

  • Samples (as roll or at least 10 sheets ≥ A4-Format) 

Important: A certified substrates must be submitted for retesting by the manufacturer if the formulation or production conditions change.

Our procedure

    Your sent in substrate will be tested and certified according to the current standard with the following criteria:

    • Colour and fluorescence in compliance with ISO 12647-7 (with respect to relevant printing conditions)

    • Gloss according to ISO 8254-1 (TAPPI)

    • Compliance with requirements for white backing according to ISO 13655

    • Permanence assessment according to ISO 12647-7

    • Light fastness according to ISO 12647-7:2016

    In case of a successful certification we issue a certificate and list your test print substrate in our FograCert database.
